Re: ACC(Ignition) on and Off problem

The uSDC typically sends a pulse after the T2 timer expires if it sees that the "on-sense" is high or not connected. If it hits the button and the PC doesn't respond, it reacts by pulling the plug after the 90 seconds t3 elapses.. Have you tested this manually? Would you want the uSDC to j...

DSX12V Overview

The DSX12V is a DC-DC converter that takes in 12v and puts out 12v at 12 amps. You may ask, "what's the point?" The point will be explained in the rest of this post. http://www.mpegbox.net/DSX12V/DSX12V_2.jpg http://www.mpegbox.net/DSX12V/DSX12V_top.jpg Here is a link to the spec sheet for...

Re: DSX12VD Programming

The FTDI cables are compatible. You just have to swap some pins.

That's not true. It does work just fine, you have to swap some pins though.

Re: DSATX suddenly stopped

Yaa, it is possible you can put in a value that is not acceptable and it won't do anything to stop you. I'd suggest you load defaults and try again. If you can't get it to work, I can send you a firmware update.

Re: When I plug in the brainstem the DSATX shuts down, no LED

Have you seen the section on the "hot plugging" Basically you don't want to plug the adapter into the DSATX while the DSATX has power. You should pull the fuse, or disconnect the VIN terminal, then do all your plugging, then connect power to the DSATX. The serial adapters steal power from ...

Re: Turning off on crank.

The DSATX is capable of working down to 7 volts for up to 10 seconds before it tries to shut down. If you are cranking and it is cutting out it is possible that your battery is too far gone or your wiring is not thick enough. Everything depends on how much load the computer is drawing too. At maximu...

Re: dsx12vd gets confused about state of computer

The OnSense line has to be connected to a voltage rail that is not a stanby rail. That is that when the computer goes to the off state, there shouldn't be any voltage on the line that is used for "On Sensing" Typically this can be a PS2 port or a hard drive +5 or +12v rail. If you use a 12...

Re: DSATX J2 power capacity

The DSATX should be able to provide enough power to run a PIC. I wouldn't try to draw more then 50 mA from it. I've tested it to 200mA, but you don't want the 3780 to get too hot because it is just a linear regulator.

Re: Monitor Current Supply From Each Voltage Rail

There is no way to measure the current of each rail as that requires a separate A/D channel and a current sense resistor in hardware. The DSATX can only monitor each supply rail's voltage.

These are the states: 0 Wakeup 1 Start Pulse 2 Running 3 Countdown 4 Power Down 5 Hibernate 6 Bad Temp 7 Fault Fault happens when one of the rails doesn't come up all the way. Sometimes you get an indicator of which rail is shorted or dead by the numbers that spit out right before it goes from state...

New USB brainstem Option. FTDI FT

FTDI makes a very good USB to serial cable. http://www.ftdichip.com/Documents/DataSheets/Modules/DS_TTL232R.pdf You can modify it to work with the DSATX very easily. J2 on the DSATX maps to the 6 pin FDTI cable as follows: J2 - FTDI Cable 4 - 5 (RX) Yellow 3 - 3 (+5V) Red 2 - 4 (TX) Orange 1 - 1 (GN...

Re: Disable Bootup when using ignition

Hi all, is there any way simply not to bootup the computer when using the ignition? I've installed a switch in my car for booting my computer manually. I don't want to boot my computer when I drive my car only a few minutes. thanks If you put a switch in-line with the ACC signal, you can do this.

Re: DSATX not working in the trunk 100F (39C) outside

Is it over 60? My harddisks are rated 60-70C, operating...I doubt that in the trunk is anywhere over 50-55 TOPS. Is that too much for the DSATX? It is so frustrating, it's not even summertime. By the way, there is a 120 Antec Tricool at MAX connected to the DSATX, blowing directly into it. Any solu...

Hi all Section 5 of the user manual states that the non regulated input voltage during operation is 6-24 and under full load is 8-16.
